Horses, Indians, and Lumber
- Part of our Past... The U.S. Forest Service has maps which provide detailed trail information, plus Schweitzer has several trails as well as Mountain Home Adventures if you don’t have your horse here. There are also unique horses for sale in the area. Every year the International Draft Horse Show has a sale at the Bonner County Fairgrounds with numerous breeds being showcased. Horserentals.com Family-owned and operated Rider Ranch is a working cattle and horse ranch just 20 minutes east of Coeur d'Alene. The Riders offer guided trail rides February through November (weather permitting) and dinner rides May through the end of September. Trails Beetop-Roundtop Divide Trail #120 From Sandpoint, take Highway 200 12 miles east to Trestle Creek Road 275. Turn left on road 275 and go 13 miles to trailhead. Trail is 19.1 miles. Branch North Gold Creek Trail #111 From Coeur d'Alene, take Highway 95 north to Bunco Road #332. Go up the Bunco 6 miles and take a left on Forest Service road #278 and follow it to the trailhead. Dixie Queen Trail #677 From Coeur d'Alene, take Highway 95 north to Bunco Road #332. Go up the Bunco 6 miles and take a left on Forest Service road #278 and follow it a couple miles past Lakeview to the trailhead. Kickbrush Trail #113 From Coeur d'Alene, take Highway 95 north to Bunco Road #332. Go up the Bunco 6 miles and take a left on Forest Service road #278 and follow it to the trailhead. Pend Oreille Divide Trail #67 From Sandpoint, take Highway 200 east 12 miles to Trestle Creek road. Take road #275 for 12 miles to Lunch Peak Road #1091. Turn left on #1091 and go 4 miles. Trail begins at big switchback below the lookout tower.
